Lincoln’s Inn Society of Harvard Law School
Membership Rules
The Lincoln’s Inn Board of Governors has adopted these membership
guidelines. All Members of the Inn agree to comply with these guidelines upon the
submission of a Lincoln’s Inn annual membership fee.
- All
members will be required to present a valid Harvard identification and/or
confirmation of Lincoln’s Inn
Membership in order to gain access to the Inn. Harvard Law School students who are not members
o the Lincoln’s Inn will not be admitted into the Inn.* Must be 21 to
drink.
- Absolutely
no one will be admitted to the Inn
between the hours of 1:30am and 8:30am. If members
have entered the Inn before 1:30am, they are not required to leave at 1:30 am, however, any members who have left the Inn will not be readmitted between 1:30am and 8:30am.
- All
members will maintain complete silence while on Follen Street. Members
are expressly disallowed from
gathering, congregating, or loitering ANYWHERE outside the Inn.
- All members will be required to enter and exit
from the Membership Door on Follen Street. Entry through the Governor’s Door at the
alleyway is limited to residents of the Lincoln’s Inn.
- Members should maintain reasonable noise levels on
the first and second floors (pool room, entertainment room, and library)
of the Inn. On these floors, shouting, yelling,
loud-talking, or excessive TV or stereo volume are
unacceptable, and members may be asked to tone down noise levels. Noisy
activities should be confined to the basement/sports bar area of the clubhouse.
- Members or their guests must leave the Inn IMMEDIATELY and absolutely silently if asked to leave by Board
Members or Inn residents: there is no instant recourse for
expelled Members.
- THERE
IS NO PARKING AT THE INN! Members will not park in the alley on Follen Street at any time. Any violators will be subject to
immediate towing of the vehicle, as well as any other punitive measures.
- The Inn holds its
Members to the highest standards of public decency and expect
all Members and their Guests to carry themselves with the utmost respect
for individuals regardless of race, creed, gender, sexual orientation,
class, and/or national origin.
- Any Members who are being picked up or dropped
off at the Inn by a motor vehicle must direct the driver to the
FOLLEN
STREET
door of the Inn. Vehicles
may not enter the alley on the side of the Inn. Members waiting to be picked up at the Inn must wait near the front door of the Inn on FOLLEN
STREET
so that they can meet their ride immediately upon its arrival and without
disruption to the Follen Street Neighbors.
Members calling taxicabs or ordering food deliveries late at night should
wait near the front door for their arrival and Members will be expected to
CLEAN UP AFTER THEMSELVES WHEN CONSUMING IN COMMON AREAS.
- Members
are encouraged to bring guests to the clubhouse, but Members will be held
responsible for the actions of their Guests. Guests must comply with rules 2-9 above and must
be at least 21 to enter. Additionally, the following rules concerning
guests apply
a) MEMBERS MAY
NOT BRING GUESTS WHO ARE HARVARD LAW STUDENTS TO THE INN.* Members attempting to bring nonmember Law Students
to the Inn will be subject to sanctions. It is the
responsibility of ALL MEMBERS to ensure that all Law School students in his or her party are Lincoln’s Inn members.
b) Members MUST
register their Guest in the INN GUEST BOOK
upon entry at the Membership Door.
Members with more than 3 guests must register their guests at least 3 hours
ahead of time by contacting the Inn
and leaving a message at the clubhouse answering machine: (617) 354-0294
c) All Guests
must have valid identification before entering the Inn.
- The Board of Governors may modify any of these
rules during the course of the year. Furthermore, the Board may promulgate
ANY new rules that it deem necessary. Members may be asked to assist the
Board of Governors in the enforcement of the above rules and the staffing
of Inn events. Members will be given notice of any such
changes or additions, which will become effective immediately upon approval
by the Board of Governors.
- Members who do not comply with any one of these
rules will be subject to SANCTIONS as determined b the Board of Governors.
Such sanctions include revocation or suspension of membership privileges
- The Inn does NOT
refund Membership dues for any reason.
