The Inn's Facilities

While the best way to get a feel for the Inn is to simply see the place for yourself (see the Map included in this brochure), here is a brief description of some of the facilities you can enjoy as a member of the Inn.

Billiard Room Members can enjoy as many rounds of pool as they like on our tournament-length table. The room also houses our collection of autographed photos of more than a dozen U.S. presidents, twenty U.S. Supreme Court Justices and many famous legal scholars.

Entertainment Room The Inn’s first floor houses a 52” large-screen television with full satellite TV service, including HBO, Showtime, Cinemax and The Movie Channel. Last year, students gathered here to enjoy favorite shows like Sex and the City, The Sopranos, and of course, Monday Night Football, the Superbowl and other major sporting events.

Fully-Stocked Bar The Inn’s somewhat infamous basement houses a fully-stocked, self-service bar with a rotating selection of up to four beers on tap (always at least one light and one premium), a wide selection of liquor, and a soft-drink dispenser that provides unlimited refills of Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, lemonade, cranberry juice, orange juice and, last time we checked, some kind of Red Bull substitute. The basement serves as a place to play cards, board games or foosball, to serving as a gathering place at many of the Inn’s social events. Televisions and a stereo are also available. All beer, soda and liquor is available to all members at all times free of charge for the entire school year.

Events

The Inn is more than a gathering place. While we encourage all students to enjoy the rich variety of social outlets available at the Law School, the Inn has a lively social calendar that includes some of the most exciting events at the Law School.

Winter Dinner The flagship event of the Inn is the annual Winter Dinner, a black tie/formal event held at a downtown hotel. Members meet early in the evening at the Inn for the signing of the annual poster, a tradition as old as the Inn itself. Original posters from as far back as 1918 can be found adorning the walls of the house. Tickets are free for members and guest tickets are available for purchase.

Harvard/Yale Game Harvard may not be a University known for its athletics, but the annual Harvard/Yale game is a tradition that Inn members, and most of the community, can get excited about. The Inn provides a pre-game tailgate party and, when the game is held at Yale, a bus to transport members to New Haven to cheer on the Crimson.

Theme Parties The Inn throws a number of festive themed events throughout the year. Some past highlights have included “Heaven and Hell,” the Inn’s annual Halloween party; the James Bond Martini Night; numerous Hawaiian-themed events; and the annual St. Patrick’s Day party.

Thursday Night Dinners The Inn’s spacious kitchen provides a place where rotating groups of members prepare meals for their fellow members, usually at a nominal cost of no more than four or five dollars (for supplies). While today the Inn’s membership is much too large to accommodate full kitchen service, the Thursday Night Dinner tradition recalls the days when students belonged to “dining clubs” at the Law School, of which the Inn is the last remaining one.

Spring Fling In recent years, the Spring Fling has offered students a chance to unwind a bit from their pre-exam stress by taking a scenic boat cruise of the Boston Harbor. In some years, the Spring Fling has been a semi-formal dance as well.

Membership

We believe an Inn membership is an invaluable part of the Law School experience outside the classroom, especially for first-year students. We are proud to offer the Inn to you, our members, for your enjoyment throughout the year, and believe it will prove worth your investment.

Once members have joined the Inn, they receive a key to the Inn, and have full access to the Inn and its facilities during operating hours (7:30 a.m. to 1:30 a.m.) seven days a week during the school year. Unlimited use of the full stocked bar and soda dispenser is also included. Nearly all Inn social events are free, though some special events may carry a nominal charge.
